Volkswagen’s Wolfsburg newsroom said on 19 October 2026 that buyers in Germany can now order the ID. Cross with a 37 kWh net battery. The Trend, with an 85 kW (116 PS) motor, starts at €27,995. Heise reported that same entry price later the same day, and the ADAC catalog lists €27,995 for the 37 kWh Trend as well. The release limits those figures to the German market.
The smaller pack sits alongside a 52 kWh battery on a car already in the GetEVCar catalog. The ID. Cross page still leads with the longer-range version: up to 427 km and a 52 kWh battery. This order opening adds a cheaper battery-electric SUV under the same name. Readers comparing other Volkswagen battery models can use the Volkswagen brand index, and the SUV listings hold the wider set.

Volkswagen describes the 37 kWh version as the one for city traffic and ordinary commutes. The newsroom quotes a WLTP range of up to 324 km, a top speed of 160 km/h, and DC charging at 90 kW, with a 10-to-80 percent stop of about 23 minutes. That pack is offered with 85 kW or 99 kW (135 PS), in Trend, Life, and Style. ADAC’s sheet for the 85 kW Trend, listed from October 2026, matches the 324 km combined electric range and the 160 km/h top speed, and it also quotes 23 minutes to 80 percent. ADAC lists lithium-iron-phosphate cells, 37.0 kWh net and 38.5 kWh gross, front-wheel drive, 267 Nm, combined consumption of 13.8 kWh/100 km, and DC power of 88 kW. Three-phase AC charging on that sheet is 11 kW. The newsroom’s 90 kW and ADAC’s 88 kW are close, and they should stay as two published figures rather than one blended number.
Heise’s reading is that “up to 324 km” does not cover every configuration. Citing an Austrian price list, Heise put the 85 kW Trend between 222 and 324 km, the 99 kW Life between 213 and 312 km, and Style between 213 and 311 km. This article has not opened that Austrian list, so the bands remain a single-source account. Heise’s German price table, which goes beyond the one number in Volkswagen’s English release, runs Trend 85 kW €27,995, Life 99 kW €31,925, Style 99 kW €34,510, then the 52 kWh car with 155 kW at €36,525 in Life and €39,110 in Style. Volkswagen and ADAC both support the €27,995 Trend line. The other four prices are Heise’s.

Heise also reported that the smaller battery cuts braked towing from as much as 1,200 kg to 750 kg. That pair does not appear in the English Volkswagen release or in the ADAC fields checked for this Trend. ADAC does list vehicle-to-load as standard equipment. Heise puts the output at up to 3.6 kW, and that kilowatt figure is Heise’s alone.
Shoppers on the UK market page will not find a pound price in Monday’s papers. Volkswagen closed the announcement on Germany. A currency conversion of €27,995 is not an order price in the UK or the United States.
