Lexus NX 450h+ Adds DC Fast Charging for 2027 — Still a Plug-in Hybrid, Not a BEV

Lexus published the 2027 NX on 1 September from its Europe newsroom and from Plano, Texas. From this model year the compact SUV is hybrid or plug-in hybrid only. The car that belongs on this site is the NX 450h+, the plug-in hybrid. Lexus Europe says the lithium-ion pack grows 30 percent, from 18 kWh to 23 kWh, and quotes a provisional WLTP electric range of more than 100 km, pending homologation. It also calls the NX “the first Lexus plug-in hybrid model compatible with DC fast charging,” with a 10–80 percent top-up in 30 minutes, standard on every 450h+ grade. Automotive World, working from Toyota source material, and AutoGuide both restated that 23 kWh / more-than-100 km / DC package the same day. Lexus US’s manufacturer estimate is over 40 miles of electric range on select grades; official EPA ratings, the company said, come closer to the on-sale date.

GetEVCar already lists the current Lexus NX 450h+ under Lexus: 18.1 kWh, 71 km of WLTP electric range, 6.6 kW AC, 215 kW combined. The market row is the United Kingdom only — there is no US or UAE dealer flag on that page. Those numbers sit behind two compact luxury plug-in SUVs already on the PHEV catalogue: the Audi Q5 e-hybrid (20.7 kWh, 105 km, 11 kW AC, UK) and especially the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 e (25.3 kWh, 129 km, 11 kW AC and 60 kW DC, UK). The BMW X3 30e is the other UK compact in that row, at 19.7 kWh and 87 km. A 23 kWh NX with a DC socket would close the range gap versus the Q5 and, for the first time, let a Lexus plug-in use the public DC posts the GLC already lists. The NX 350h self-charging hybrid is not a plug-in; it does not belong on /phev.

Timing is not a 2026 showroom car in Europe. Lexus Europe opens pre-sales this autumn and starts deliveries in early spring 2027. Combined system output is quoted at 307 DIN hp / 226 kW, 0–100 km/h in 6.1 seconds, and a 1,500 kg tow rating — all marked provisional. Lexus US has not published a sticker price or an on-sale week. We are not inventing a US MSRP, a DC kilowatt rate (Lexus only gave the 30-minute 10–80 window), or treating “over 40 miles” as an EPA label. For US shoppers on this site, the live Lexus plug-in remains the RX 450h+ (18.1 kWh, 68 km, 6.6 kW AC, US and UK). The compact SUV plug-in that already carries a US flag alongside it is the Volvo XC60 T8 (18.8 kWh, 79 km, 6.4 kW AC).

What we are not claiming: homologated WLTP CO2, UAE availability for the 2027 NX, or that this is a battery-electric vehicle. Mazda UK priced the CX-6e BEV the same day at £42,990 Takumi and £45,350 Takumi Plus (Motor Trader and EV Fleet World, also PA/Irish News), with a 78 kWh pack, up to 300 miles WLTP, and 200 kW DC. There is no Mazda page here; it is logged, not this story. Proton’s CKD eMas 7 PHEV in Malaysia and BYD’s Sealion 08 China launch sit outside current coverage. Hyundai’s Santa Fe EREV recap is the 27 August post. Until the 2027 NX 450h+ is a listed model, the useful next clicks stay the current NX, the GLC 300 e, the Q5 e-hybrid, and the US-flag RX 450h+.
